2012 Top 10 Movies - MyView

A year gone by, a full year in my blogging experience. Based on the reception for my movie review - MyView, I started to cover more movies. Result, now I have hand full of them to sort it out and here it goes...

1. Pizza(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/11/pizza-myview.html)
This movie have not failed to impress whoever watch it. Since its a suspense thriller, repeat audience will be bored hence it wont top in box office(but still it would have returned more than investment  That is none of our concern too). I remember last year's Kanchana, same genre movie collected applause.

2. Naan 'E'(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/08/naan-e-myview.html)
A Fantasy movie always has its fan followers. If the fatansy also entertains, no doubt it becomes a hit. By that mean, this movie satisfied every segment of audience.

3. Naduvula koncham pakkatha kaanom (http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/12/naduvula-koncham-pakkatha-kaanom-myview.html)

Totally different subject line, with new brave attempts gives extra mileage to this movie. Freshness in the story plot, with no disappointments. Little envy for the friendship that is described on screen.

4. Thupakki(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/11/thupakki-myview.html)
This movie would be one of the highlighter in his portfolio for actor Vijay. His acting was subtle, no much exaggeration and well fit for the story. Though there are few slipping points, it never failed to entertain the audience.

5.Sundara Pandian(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/10/sundara-pandian-myview.html)
Another south side movie with love and murder. The well defined parameter in the movie was the friendship. And the beautiful dialogues. Sasikumar still holds good as a man next door. But not sure, he may enter as a commercial action hero soon.

6. Kalakalappu @ Masala Cafe(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/05/kalakalappu-masala-cafe-myview.html)
Multi star cast carefully framed hits the success bell. Full length comedy movie with no much logic to worry about. Music was the major negative though we don't care about it. The team is working on making the next sequel of this movie.

7. OK OK(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/04/ok-ok-myview.html)
Santhanam starring and supportive character done by udhayani. Screen stealing show by Santhanam.  As usual as in Rajesh's movie this one didn't have much in the story part. The composing of scenes and screen play entertains.

8. Nanban(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/01/nanban-myview.html)
A remake movie, copied everything from its source except the songs. Dialogues were Tamil equivalents of the Hindi version. Though they had presented it well because of lack of originality and the impression of the original version this movie goes below the expectation line.

9. Kumki (http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/12/kumki-myview.html)
Very pleasant fairy tale like story which has impressed everybody. Music carries the movie till end. The unfinished climax gives the movie, A rough edge. The voice over dialogues of Thambi Ramaiah should be added in post production considering the entertainment factor. Otherwise movie would be a blunt knife.

10. Atta Kathi(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/08/atta-kathi-myview.html)
All together a different genre. An untouched and very common story plot helped the success of the movie. The draggy screen play gives some yawn and pulls down in this list.

Note: The listing is purely based on my opinion. The listing not done based on the turn over it made(I am no way bothered about it.).

Other Contenders:
Neethaney En Ponvasantham (http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/12/neethaney-en-ponvasantham-myview.html)
Maatran(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/10/maatran-myview.html)
Thandavam(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/10/thandavam-myview.html)
Mugamoodi(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/09/mugamoodi-myview.html)
Naan(http://dickilona.blogspot.in/2012/09/naan-myview.html)

Kumki - MyView

After a day's struggle and quest hunt to many cinema hall, at last we made it into the Movie.

Prabhu solomon as usual had a very good opening. All theaters are running houseful, even the night shows.
So no doubt it would be a box office hit, if the same wave continues.

First important thing in the movie is cinematography and post processing. Colors speak out the beauty of nature and freshness. Sukumar gets a kudos for the specific mind boggling shot of the falls. Secondly the Art direction and Third VFX and CG team.

But on the whole, Thambi Ramaiah and Iman carry the movie on their shoulders till climax. Thambi Ramaiah with the style of Vadivelu(we dont know who copied who) rocks the screen with rib tickling mind voice counters. Like other successful directors, Prabhu solomon had felt that comedy is the magic portion with would create a spell bound on viewers. It helped him.

Iman on the other hand had not slipped at any part let it be the tribe village, or the love or the suspense. Songs were already an hit, and audience response to their favorite song proves it.

Story with Elephant has always a craze between us, right from Nalla neram, and lot of Ramanarayan films. This movie is also not an exception, and it surely give us the delight.

Director has taken a straight forward story, and its a blend of many familiar movies which we had seen in 80s, 90s. But few things could have give little more treatment so that the movie looks little complete. Like the reason our heroine falling in love with hero, guest visiting forest rangers, and specifically abruptly ending climax.

New face Vikram Prabhu, a entrant from acting family (Sivaji Ganesan's Grand son) has shown very good screen presence. Lakshmi menon has done her part very well. Though the hero and heroine resemble the template of Myna, it doesn't spoil the show.

With the present list of movies released  we are in position to choose between the least worst movie. In that case, you can count on Kumki.

Neethaney En Ponvasantham - MyView

Without wasting much of your time, My comment about the movie 'A love documentary'.
Dare to watch at your own risk. As I did. I was sticking to the seat just for Illayaraja.

Gowtham menon, after his success in Vinaithandi varuvaya had tried a similar genre story.
But to accept, he had failed to present a pleasing movie.

Screenplay is first culprit to blame. Many scenes are disjoint and hard to understand.
Dialogues are twisted in most of the places and convey nothing, which is the second spoiled one.
Hero and Heroine conversation is the major part of the movie and since dialogue is so weasel  it becomes one of the root cause of the flop.

The story is about a love between Varun and Nithya. Their love starts when they were kids and break up, then meet at school and break up. Then meet at college and then break up. Then after varun is settled in life he goes back for her. She ditches him. He plans another marriage. She shows up in his wedding reception. Both confess to each other. Roam around at the night (few hours before his wedding) then as usual, as expected Hero and Heroine unite... Impressive isn't it?

I don't know how I completed typing the story line. But on screen, director has sculptured it so well that few of my co-audience praised director with fowl words.

Two complementary (but very little in amount) things in the movie, first Illayaraja's music. Secondly Santhanam's comedy.
After interval story starts with santhanam's track.

Almost all songs are placed as montage songs with few lip sync. But for all such songs slow motion is used which gives a boring feel for the song. 'Ennodu vaa vaa' song visuals complements the song very well. 'Sainthu saithu' is a disappointment.

Antony's editing doesn't show up at all. To show cinematographer's proficiency there are few scenes. Especially one lengthy shot which runs for more than 10 mins right before the interval(a lengthy conversation before they break up).

Jiiva has a good role but comparability Samantha has a competitive role. She has performed really well. The stages of life variation suites very much for samantha than jiiva.

I was wondering, Gautham who usually handles romance very well right from matured love, second love etc had slipped from his target. Some how it didn't hit the right chord.

Result of which, I have decided not to see any love stories here after.

Naduvula koncham pakkatha kaanom - MyView

A new story line, with lot of new brave attempts from a fresh set of technicians.

The movie is collection of two days in our hero's life. Four friends, events, incidents and conversation between them is major part of the movie. A sudden tragedy and the struggle by hero's friends to help him out is the one liner.

Each and every character fits in their role precisely. Vijay sethupathy, had performed excellently. He was flawless. He had to repeat a same dialogue, every time he delivers it with the same modulation, though it looks simple he should have worked a lot for that.

Director had cooked comedy, sentiment, sorrow, love everything with these four characters. Their conversation drives the story. Screen play helps to stretch the two days' event into  2 and half hours movie.

Comedy is the more superior part of the movie, though they were struggling it creates hilarious hit on audience. The bondage between the friends creates jealous. The 'gaj' cricket scene is very interesting.

Music has no importance in the movie, though they have valued the flow by not interrupting with songs. Introduction of characters are also in the title song (sung by Mano) which is another new attempt instead of usual director narration.

There are few logical defects like escaping from GH had no consequence until they return next day, marriage sequence etc. But they can be forgiven considering the entertainment factor[we sacrifice a lot of reasoning for scrap movies, this is far better movie than those movies]

Heroine has hardly scope to perform, but she is ok to be in the wedding reception. She comes on screen for two or three reels.

At closing they relate the story to a real life incident(story of film's cinematographer Prem Kumar), which adds jewel to the crown. All together is a good movie with all entertaining factors and a fresh story.
