Neethaney En Ponvasantham - MyView

Without wasting much of your time, My comment about the movie 'A love documentary'.
Dare to watch at your own risk. As I did. I was sticking to the seat just for Illayaraja.

Gowtham menon, after his success in Vinaithandi varuvaya had tried a similar genre story.
But to accept, he had failed to present a pleasing movie.

Screenplay is first culprit to blame. Many scenes are disjoint and hard to understand.
Dialogues are twisted in most of the places and convey nothing, which is the second spoiled one.
Hero and Heroine conversation is the major part of the movie and since dialogue is so weasel  it becomes one of the root cause of the flop.

The story is about a love between Varun and Nithya. Their love starts when they were kids and break up, then meet at school and break up. Then meet at college and then break up. Then after varun is settled in life he goes back for her. She ditches him. He plans another marriage. She shows up in his wedding reception. Both confess to each other. Roam around at the night (few hours before his wedding) then as usual, as expected Hero and Heroine unite... Impressive isn't it?

I don't know how I completed typing the story line. But on screen, director has sculptured it so well that few of my co-audience praised director with fowl words.

Two complementary (but very little in amount) things in the movie, first Illayaraja's music. Secondly Santhanam's comedy.
After interval story starts with santhanam's track.

Almost all songs are placed as montage songs with few lip sync. But for all such songs slow motion is used which gives a boring feel for the song. 'Ennodu vaa vaa' song visuals complements the song very well. 'Sainthu saithu' is a disappointment.

Antony's editing doesn't show up at all. To show cinematographer's proficiency there are few scenes. Especially one lengthy shot which runs for more than 10 mins right before the interval(a lengthy conversation before they break up).

Jiiva has a good role but comparability Samantha has a competitive role. She has performed really well. The stages of life variation suites very much for samantha than jiiva.

I was wondering, Gautham who usually handles romance very well right from matured love, second love etc had slipped from his target. Some how it didn't hit the right chord.

Result of which, I have decided not to see any love stories here after.
