Got a call from this number +911130193900.
Person said he is calling from Delhi, Happy Deals. I could sense that he was struggling but speaking in Tamil.
Here is the actual conversation in English
Phone: Sir, I am <xyz>(dont remember his name) calling from Delhi. Happy Deals.
Me: Ok
Phone: You have been chosen since you have been using your credit cards with no disputes and consistently. We will offer you holiday package for a family and it will reach your house address.
Me: Ok
Phone: Can you tell which is the credit card you used at maximum in past three months?
Me: You said you have record, and that is how I have been chosen, dont you know which card i used most?
[Actually for past 3 months my credit card statement was nill :)]
Phone: Yes sir, we have record. But we want to confirm that I am talking to right person.
Me: Ok fine, tell me what are all the cards I have, I will tell you from that.
Phone: [Words stampeded in his mouth] Yes sir like citibank, Abn amro etc...
Me: Citibank.
[I dont have a citibank card :)]
Phone: Can you tell me whether is it Master card or Visa?
Me: Master card
Phone: Can you tell me the expiry date?
[Gotcha, he is a fraud]
Me: I dont have card with me now.
Phone: When will you have the card with you sir.
Me: Now i am in my friend's house. I may have it tomorrow.
Phone: I will call you later sir.
I dono he will call again. But people beware about these kind of calls.

Never share any of your bank/credit card informations over phone.
I remember billdesk has a mode of charging over phone. But very few vendor have it.
Even there, you can opt for other modes.

Hey Thilip, I got an exactly same call, but it was from Mega Deals, Delhi based company.
ReplyDeleteConversation went with the same details and same way as you mentioned above, I doubted it was a fake call.
Mega Deal person: He said that citibank is offering these and you are selected as one of them for free holiday package.
Me: I didn't received any citibank regarding, why are you saying so.
Mega Deal Person: Citibank will not tell this offer directly, we are sister consultants and we receive communication from them.
Me: ok, fine, wat you want.
Mega Deal Person: We want to confirm you are correct one, kindly tell us which credit card you used most.
Me: I doubted it was fraud and asked him dont you know which credit card, I used most.
What else, then he dropped.
